'Twas Loki's doing, but thou shalt never know!

This is a plotting post!

As said below in Permissions, Loki is a Trickster, which is the most manipulative archetype in fiction. To really be able to stretch his proverbial wings, Loki needs to be able to manipulate people. I will always ask you before having him start trying to poke your character in any direction, but if you know you would like to have Loki drag your character up into his drama, let me know here! We can work out a way for him to get under your character's skin. Right now, the long term goal he has in mind is to take over the ship so he can force it to send him home (or, rather, back to oblivion). This is subject to change! (It is worth noting that when I say long-term I mean this is destined to cover most, if not all, of his stay in the game. It will take a very long time to build up to, if it happens at all)

Remember if you decide to subject your character to Loki's manipulation and then change your mind later that is perfectly okay. I will work with you to give you an out.

Threads here are not screened by default but if you'd like to have your plot ideas kept secret I can screen on request.

Yes hello. I know I've mentioned to you before that I would love to do something with Terra and Loki because I'm a horrible person who wants to exploit Terra's innate fear of being controlled.

SO. UH. Since Terra is a highly magical being, it's likely that Loki can sense that. Terra doesn't know anything about Loki being "bad" - all she knows is from the conversation they had on the network. The best way to approach her is to be subtle. She's not going to be manipulated outright.

Anyway I'm horrible at coming up with specific plans for things, but I'll leave this open to any suggestions.

Hmm, well, I'll try and summarize Terra's main fears...

Okay, so since she was a soldier of the Empire and controlled by Kefka's Slave Crown for a while, she definitely fears being controlled again. She also hates being the "cause" of war. After all, the Empire attacks Figaro Castle looking for her, and she feels quite guilty. So yes, being controlled is a main fear. Also being exploited, viewed as less than a human, etc. Since she's half-Esper (and the only known human/Esper hybrid - Espers are creatures with innate magical powers, they act as summons in the game), she knows she's "different" and hates how her status has caused bad things.

Another thing that isn't really touched upon in the game but is mentioned in extra material is that she dislikes crowded places. That probably relates to her fear of being controlled, and she probably hasn't had many opportunities for socialization in her life, being raised for war from a young age.

Right now, at Terra's canonpoint, I pulled her right from the destruction of the World of Balance (the end of the first half of the game). At that point, Kefka (the main antagonist) has pretty much absorbed the powers of what are basically the gods of the world, and the continent begins crumbling. Terra and her party escape to the airship, but the destruction is so great that they are all separated as they fall to the ground. After this point in the game, it resumes a year later in the character Celes' POV, where it's found that the world is in a post-apocalyptic state.

BASICALLY since Terra is pulled right from when she falls from the airship, she partially fears that Earth has been destroyed. After all, when the party fights Kefka at the very end of the game, his ultimate goal is to pretty much end all existence. So yes, she definitely fears her friends being dead, as well as the planet having gone kaboom.

OH another fear Terra has, this is a big one: Because she's a hybrid and because of the circumstances of her being raised, she fears that a being like her will never experience love (romantic, platonic, familial, etc.). After her canon point, she discovers that she can love, as she develops a maternal bond with several children (so she has a soft spot for kids), who even call her "Mama." However, that's after her canon point, so right now she still has that fear.

These are some of the things I can think of right now. If I think of anything more, I'll add it. But right now I think those are all the major ones.

Oh good, I'm looking forward to things. If this needs to be a slow process of him befriending her or something, that's cool - you're always free to hit Terra up.

OKAY SO prepare yourself for a bunch of questions because really I have no idea about... well, anything about Loki, in any iteration, at all.

What sort of manipulations is he shooting for? Or I guess what's the end goal/grand scheme/overarching plan, if there is one? And if not, what's he trying to build up toward initially? Like, does he just like puppets to play with or does he want to take over the ship or does he have it out for others on-board or is he just a sadist or [insert goal here]? That sort of thing!

Ah, yeah, I see! So if I'm not reading this wrong, as far as CR goes this is more of a post to see who would like to establish CR and probably be willing, in the future, to get messed around with a la Lokis? And like as it gets closer to Big Plots hash it out with you on the details of how that would go down.

Dude that sounds great! As far as this guy goes, it might take some fine tinkering because NOT ONLY is he a paranoid bastard by nature, but after eight months on the ship with Russia (the other extreme paranoid bastard of Hetalia) he's wary of everything times a billion.

BUT if you like PM's or have a Plurk we can work that out and let Loki sidestep the big things.

I've been kind of eyeing Loki from a distance for a while now, but since it's such a drawn-out plot I really wouldn't mind a little Loki-style meddling in this boy's affairs every once in a while.

Like I said in his permissions (I think;;), cat dude here has got some nasty monster blood in him, and if Loki has enough power he can start poking and prodding away at it to his heart's content. Basically, it just makes Asato one cranky guy, and it's happened before during the fear gas plot so I figure there's at least a basis to start out from. He's got kind of this nagging fear that he's going to end up hurting someone again because that monster is definitely not friendly, so Loki can either lull him into a false sense of security or just mess with him to keep him on his toes. Or whatever else works for you, really!

If you'd like we can has out some details over plurk as well. I'm at oceansofsyrup.
